What is your favourite colour and why?

My favorite color is blue. Blue and all its shades. Blue means a deep sea, curly waves, summer mornings and nights, cool water, fresh air, whole piece, and maternity for me:) I adore this color that makes me feel calm and full of energy.

Actually, every color has its own meaning. I’d like to provide you with these details. And I will start from blue, of course:)

Blue – trust, peace, honesty and loyalty. This color reduces stress, evokes relaxation, and if you adore this color the most – you are pretty sincere.

Red – sexual passion, energy, ambition. This color is strong, it generates your energy. If you try to keep many things around you red – you’re extroverted and confident.

Orange – communication, optimism, superficiality. Orange makes you related to adventure and risk-taking. If you’re in love with orange – you’re pretty independent personality.

Yellow – mind, intellect. This color creates enthusiasm for life and if you’re in love with yellow – you’re cheerful and fun.

Green – nature, balance, growth. Green evokes harmony, if you prefer green among other colors – you’re practical and down-to-earth.

Brown – protection, comfort and material wealth. If you prefer brown among other colors – you’re steady, reliable, and pretty confident.

Gray – compromise, neutral, unemotional. Gray feels pretty quiet, if you like gray – you’re usually indifferent about life, and you try to hide from the world.

White – innocence, pure. This color is totally reflective. If you adore white – you’re neat and immaculate.

Black – secret, mystery, external. Black means power and control, if you can;t live without black – you pay attention to prestige and power.

If you’ve got interested, take a close look at the source, where I’ve found the information. There you’ll find a detailed description of each color and interesting facts about colors and people.

  1. Disclaimer : A very Girly answer ahead

Thanks for A2A. I don't have any favorite colors but I have always loved pastels. These are my favorite shades because they look good everywhere, on everything.

I have a particular obsession for color Peach and all varieties of its different shades, be it beige, plush, plum, apricot, melon, tangerine etc…….

Peach is such a gender neutral color and suits everyone, be it males, females, kids, elderly and even walls. On the walls, adds such glace to my eyes,

I own a bag full of peach dresses because it looks cute yet chic , even for the formals.

It is a swanky yet a romantic color and can be paired with white, navy blue, yellow, silver, brown, torquoise blue, gold etc…

Such a neutral color for combinations also, and complements everything. It appeals in every form maybe matte or glossy. It is elegant for designing interiors and furniture.

Other pastel shades like lime green, yellow, baby pink, melange are also a feast to my eyes.

  2. YELLOW

is the color between green and orange in the spectrum of visible light. It is the color of ripe lemons, sunflowers and gold. It is a primary color in subtractive color, used in color printing. According to surveys in Europe, Canada, and the United States, yellow is the color people most often associate with amusement, gentleness, and spontaneity, but also with duplicity, envy, jealousy, avarice, and, in the U.S., with cowardice. It plays an important role in Asian culture, particularly in China, where it is seen as the color of happiness, glory, wisdom, harmony, and culture.

I love yellow because I relate it to knowledge and wisdom. I relate it to the ever-lightning sun which diminishes the darkness of the world. I relate it to omniscience. I relate it to the warm weather in spring in the midst of a flower garden.

We observe a lot of yellow in our daily life-

Yellow is also the color worn by saints in India along with orange and white and sometimes red.

  3. There is not any particular colour, which is my favourite, all colours are beautiful in its own way. My choice in case of colours changes according to the situation, according to the different things.

    • This white, symbol of purity, peace and classy.

    • This cyan, my eyes get satisfied after seeing this colour, but I don't know why ?

    • This black, which has power of absorbing all colours in itself.

    • This red, after seeing this, should I need to say more ? Beautiful in its own way.

    • This peach, its looks cute and sweet, so I love this also.

    • Blue, cool ???

    • Navy blue, symbol of royality, elegant, rich, intelligent.

    • After seeing pink in this way, my mouth is watering !!

    • This Grey is well balanced, emotionless, moody, dull but still beautiful.

    • How much beautiful they are looking, when they are placed all together. Aren't they looking interesting and beautiful ?

I think similar is life, life looks beautiful when it holds mixture of colours in it. Just imagine if all things would be of one colour only, don't you think so, life will become boring ?? Every colour has its own uniqueness and own beauty.

So, each and every colour has contributed well to make my life beautiful, there is not only one colour which is my favourite, all are beautiful

Thank you for tha A2A Anjali Jain !!

  4. BLACK

Black is a powerful color with a sense of mystery and is usually related with all things evil, dark, depressing or frightening. If your favorite color is black it may mean that authority and independence are important to you. People see you as serious or conservative and you put a mask over your emotions. You have class, but at the same time are reserved. You're in control of yourself and are strong willed. Sometimes you put an invisible barrier between yourself and others.

Black symbolizes darkness, night, despair, solitary, depression and sometimes even death.

Sometimes people may like black in a certain stage of their life when they are feeling depressed or even if they are a teenager who is still trying to figure themselves out.

Black makes a statement and compliments nearly every other color.

Black color is commendable. No other color has more grace than black.

Black colour lovers are majestic and magnificent in nature that too without being loud. They like it if people think that they are mysterious, but that’s because of their own fear of defeat from their inner desires and worldly goals. Black colour shows some of these traits:

    1. Authoritative

    2. Evil

    3. Intelligence

    4. Thinning

    5. Power

  5. Green… green colour is my favorite color…

After all it’s a colour of nature and health…

It is a relaxing colour, it gives pleasure to eyes…has healing power…

Dark green is often associated with the military, monetary, financial and banking businesses. The color green is full of balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, it’s the color green, that puts heart and emotions in balance, and equals head and heart. The green color is an emotionally positive color, which gives us the ability to love and care for ourselves and others unconditionally.

As a natural peacemaker, green avoids the tendency to be a martyr. The color green loves to observe, is a good listener and counselor, and would make a good social worker. Green loves to contribute to society. It likes to work with charity and is a good parent and a helpful neighbor.

    Me in green colour….haha…

    Don’t try, it doesn’t suits anyone….

  6. If you ask anyone, they will say my favorite color is gray.

That’s all I ever wear- gray, black, or white- and on the off chance, army green, navy blue or maroon. Its always a gray t-shirt tucked into black jeans with my white-turned-gray Nikes, topped with a black jean jacket. Gray can be warm or cool and EL James was wrong, because there are hundreds, even thousands of shades of gray in the world.

And they are right, I suppose. I do love the color gray.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret- my favorite color is a bold, bright red.

Red like the fire engines that visit neighborhood block parties, red like the lipstick I use for dance performances, red like the car I’ll buy when I grow up, and red like the shirt I wore on my 16th birthday. Red is the color of emotion- love, anger, fear, and passion. Red is all about getting things done, doing them quickly but in the best way possible. Red is jumping without thinking twice, diving into new worlds and opportunities without allowing yourself the chance to back out. Who doesn’t like the thrill of doing something crazy, whether that be ordering a different meal than usual or bungee jumping off the cliffs of Santa Cruz? Red is meeting new people, visiting new places and trying new foods. Red is letting your fear fuel you, not stop you.

Red is allowing yourself to live life to the fullest.

  7. I think my favorite color is green (it really is too bad Alexander Lee (梅治 新太) had to go making LaTeX illegal for use, otherwise I would have put that in green).

I like a few different shades of green, but most notably

    Something like that

I love the green in this image (which is taken by me, BTW, source Home – Tyler Newcomb)

    Some shades I don’t like?

    Yuck. Just…Eww.

Green is a color that is soothing. It promotes healing, and mind and body.

It represents safety, harmony, refreshment, money, and ambition.

TL;DR: Green is my favorite color.

  8. Yellow.

My favourite colour is yellow because I think it reflects me in many ways.

    Yellow signifies carelessness, imprudent behavior.

Yellow means not giving a damn about others business and being self-absorbed all the time.

Yellow is the colour of happiness. It exudes that feeling of glee and mirth.

Yellow doesn’t try to stand out. It is a harmonizing colour which blends with almost any other colour.

    Yellow + Blue = Green

    Yellow + Red = Orange

    Yellow + black = Brown

Here is what Coldplay has to say about the colour Yellow,

    Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
    And everything you do,
    Yeah, they were all yellow.

    I came along,
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do,
    And it was called "Yellow".

So then I took my turn,
Oh what a thing to have done,
    And it was all yellow.

    Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
    Turn into
    Something beautiful,
    Do you know,
You know I love you so,
You know I love you so.

    I swam across,
    I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
    'Cause you were all yellow,

    I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
    And it was all yellow.

    Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
    Turn into
    Something beautiful,
    Do you know,
For you I'd bleed myself dry,
For you I'd bleed myself dry.

    It's true,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
    Look how they shine for,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
    Look how they shine.

    Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.

  9. There used to be another color, a long time ago, which had a place in my heart for a short while. I loved this color:

Anyway, I still do enjoy seeing shades of carnation or fuchsia around me, but feel a little guilty when I say this isn't my favorite color.

A little background: On August 9th, 2004, Hafsah Kamal attended Kindergarten for the first time in her life. She was befriended by a cool trio of girls who loved doing things together.

One day, she went to Wal-Mart with her mother. She got lost and entered an aisle that seemed like paradise. It was pink. Pink in every shade, from bubblegum and punch, to crepe and taffy.

    I couldn't resist.

The pink cards were for maternity patients (what did you expect) but I didn't care. I didn't even know how to read yet! All I knew was that this color was the color of my best dreams.

On Monday, Hafsah went to school, eager to speak of her discovery. She entered the playground and shouted:

“PEOPLE I UH-SAW THIS COOL PLACE IN WAL-MART AND IT WAS SO COOL AND STUFF!”

“OH THAT'S NICE HAFSAH WHAT DID YOU SEEE?”

    “IT WAS-WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?!”

    “GREEEEEEEEEN!!!!!”

    “Huh?”

And then my friends bashed the color pink, saying it was too bright, too girly, too immature, and too boring, and so I gave into peer pressure and “admit” that I liked the color green too.

I don't regret the decision anymore, but for those few years, I knew I was lying to myself.

I did rebel in my own way though.

See the girls I was friends with all liked this shade of green:

    I chose this one:

Anyway, I like the color green now, followed by the color blue (cerulean, specifically). I like the fact that green is such a versatile color and that it complements my skin tone, making it my favorite shade to wear. It also makes me look older, which is a good thing, because I seem to have “childish” facial features.

And I'm glad I decided not to pick this as my favorite shade of green or I would regret more than a few life choices right now:

It says vomit green but it almost looks olive. Huh.

And that's that. The story of a girl whose current favorite color was chosen as a result of joining an (un)intentional bandwagon. I was in KG, people!

    Thanks for the A2A Jack!

Answered as part of Hafsah's About Me Q&A session of June 27–28th 2017.

  10. When asked my favorite color as a kid, I'd always respond with “pink, purple, and blue” and always in that order.

But my favorite color was definitely bubblegum pink, like this:

I still really like this color, especially for decorations, but it's not necessarily my favorite.

Nowadays, my favorite color is a dark green (or emerald), like this:

Why? (other than the fact that I “just like it”):

    • It's a very natural color that matches with almost anything.
    • It's probably one of the most common colors found in nature.

However, I also love black, sapphire, scarlet/burgundy, and millennial pink.

  11. Thanks for the A2A

Well. I have a liking for few colours. I’m sorry, I’m going to mention three colours and not just one.

The dominant of them is – Black

But why? – Because, Black is Bold, Black is elegant , Black is sophistication, Black is power, Black is mystery.

No, black is no longer void. Black is not dull or dark. Black is not negation.

The next colour I’m in love with is – Turquoise

Wow, such a beauty for eyes. Turquoise is refreshing, soothing, beauty and charming.

Well the next favourite of mine is – Aqua

Aqua is peace , Aqua is bubbling and Aqua is healing.

  12. My favourite colour is green. I love all green shades.

My grandad asked me this question the other day and when I replied green , he said “that's a strange colour for a girl to like seeing as it symbolises envy”

I'd never thought of the colour green like that, I just see beauty in the colour. I have anxiety and I find any green shades immensely calming; especially green in nature. If I feel overwhelmed, I usually take a walk and I instantly feel refreshed by being in nature, and the colour green just symbolises tranquility to me.

Here are some beautiful pictures featuring greenery:

  13. Purple is my favorite color. Purple makes my heart smile. Purple is mysterious color of combining the opposites of red and blue to suggest both nobility and spirituality.

Purple: The color of luxury indicates sensuality, passion, nobility, and depth of feeling. This lavish color creates and unusual atmosphere and provides an unexpected essence. If you like violet, you tend to be unique, highly sensitive and observant. Creative and artistically talented, your complex personality suits you perfectly. Purple lovers are very creative and have a refined taste. People who love purple are intelligent and sharp. They have an eye for detail and notice even those things that are mostly overlooked by others.

    Positive:Spiritually,power,dignity,royalty,magic,wisdom,mystery.containment,vision,luxury,quality,authenticity,truth,creativity,peace,calm,femininity

Negative: Introversion, Decadence, suppression, inferiority, snobbery, gloominess

    Effects: Increased creativity and intuition.

Purple is always in fashion. Purple is the color of Dreams. Purple is the best it seems. Purple is the color of me. Purple is the best you see.

If it’s purple then its mine. Nothing gets between me and my purple. If I have a chance I will make all the things in purple.

    I don’t have a purple problem, I have a purple passion!

  14. Thnx @Amit Yadav for the A2A.

My favourite colour is white, calling myself obsessed with the colour won't be an exaggeration either.

I love white because it's pure.

I love white because its peaceful.

I love white because it contains 7 other colours in it but still has the determination of being itself and not being lost in others . I love white for its indivisuality.

I love white for the aura it creates is incomparable.

    ………………………………………………………………..

Now, why did I call myself obsessed with this colour?

No, not because I had to but because I actually am.

I am at present wearing a “white” dress with a “white” watch and “white” earrings. Trust me guys!! I am obsessed…

Though the picture is a month old but it beautifuly portrays my love for the colour.

  15. PINK!!

After all I am a female and Pink is assumed to be the favourite colour of a girl, right?

No, most of the females including myself don't like the idea of putting Pink on the top of the list.

My favourite colour is Blue, all shades of blue. Why?

Because every time I contemplate the sky I am overwhelmed with the mystery that it holds.

Because ever time I see huge water bodies (not drains) I can feel the happiness running through my veins.

And of course, because I personally feel people look good when they wear blue (including myself) 🙂

  16. Indigo, as in the velvet colour of the night.

When I look into the night sky, my heart soars. It is the time of ‘day’ when flow arrives the most easily for me, as a writer. In the evening hours, when the life of the world has migrated inside the houses and gentle lights appear in the windows, this is when my soul settles, peace arrives and my vision clears. At last.

I sometimes think of my favourite poem, ‘Hymn to the Night’, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It is an immensely clever piece, rich with imagery equating the night to a mother figure. Deeply evocative. I fell in love with this poem when I was 12 and have loved it ever since.

    Hymn to the Night

I heard the trailing garments of the Night
     Sweep through her marble halls!
I saw her sable skirts all fringed with light
     From the celestial walls!
I felt her presence, by its spell of might,
     Stoop o'er me from above;
The calm, majestic presence of the Night,
As of the one I love.
I heard the sounds of sorrow and delight,
     The manifold, soft chimes,
That fill the haunted chambers of the Night
     Like some old poet's rhymes.
From the cool cisterns of the midnight air
     My spirit drank repose;
The fountain of perpetual peace flows there,–
     From those deep cisterns flows.
O holy Night! from thee I learn to bear
     What man has borne before!
Thou layest thy finger on the lips of Care,
     And they complain no more.
Peace! Peace! Orestes-like I breathe this prayer!
     Descend with broad-winged flight,
The welcome, the thrice-prayed for, the most fair,
     The best-beloved Night!

  17. Royal Purple

    I lllloooooovvveee this color.

When I was younger, a popular question was always “what is your favorite color?”. I always struggled with describing mine. Yes, simplistically purple was my favorite. But it was a specific shade of purple that I loved. It was dark, but not too dark. It was purple, but not too purple.

Now that I am older, I can identify and understand the different attributes of this color that I love. I like the purple that is bold. I also like the purple that has a little more hint of red than blue. I liked the purple that is strong, but not saturated. I also like that this color is unique, because it does not really show up in nature or in the outside world.

Other colors that I really like that are similar with the same saturation and light, but different hue, include maroon and indigo:

But in the end, these will always be my favorite:

Royal purple has always been my favorite color, and always will be. I do not think I will ever tire from this color, it is just too beautiful.

  18. Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen such an innocent question on Quora, ha.

    Simple. Relaxing. Easygoing.

My favorite colours include: Red, white, and black.

    Beautiful black.

    Elegant but simple.

Black and white are such basic colors that come from shadows. The absence of light.

    Lovely white.

If I ever dyed my hair I would choose a white.

    Something angelic about it.

It can be perceived as plain and simple, but a master can make white into one of the most pure and tasteful colours.

    Lastly is red.

    The colour of blood.

In my culture it means fortune and luck.

Red is a bold colour, it stands out like no other.

Red is daring, challenging, it lashes out aggressively, and it longs for someone to tame it.

  19. turquoise

Turquoise is the results from the combination of blue and green. A beautiful color halfway between these two tones that has a depth and elegance like few others. In decoration can be used to characterize all types of environments, from classrooms to hallways, kitchens, bedrooms or bathrooms, with surprising results… Choose turquoise to decorate
