Why is US patent law changing in march? What was the motivation behind the change?

The biggest change happening in March is the transition to a "first to file" system.  Most of the world uses a "first to file" system, whereas the US has lagged behind in using a "first to invent" system.  This change in March brings the US system more in line with the rest of the world.

    US Patent law has actually be changing gradually since 2011; however, in March 2013 all changes will be completed when the "first to file" is implemented.

  2. Lawyers are making too much money and small business are getting sued and unable to afford representation; therefore 'losing' these patent cases. It will definitely make the "patent trolls" think twice before suing. We are going through something related right now:
