Where is the best pizza in San Jose, CA?

Not exactly San Jose, but my favorite New York style thin-crust is from Giovanni's Pizzeria in Sunnyvale (NOT the one in San Jose) , with Vito's Famous Pizza a near second.

Pizza Chicago is my go-to for deep dish.

I haven't tried some of places on this list, though. My answer may get edited. Time to go pizza hunting.

EDIT: I recently tried A Slice of New York and enjoyed that, too.

  1. I haven't been there for at least ten years, but Nick's Pizza at 7th and Santa Clara always had wonderful pizza, prepared by a family of at least four generations of “Nicks."

  2. The pizza that stands apart is from these guys

Pizza Bocca Lupo – at San Pedro square, San Jose downtown

lovely italian style pizza. The owner was born in Naples and he got the oven imported from Italy. He specialize in flash cooking the pizza at high heat for a smaller duration – for a crunchy and gooey experience. I love their crust!

As a bonus — there is a live band, alcohol, great atmosphere and out door seating on Friday evening during summer.

The other pizzerias mentioned like Rosie's and Slice on New York are just ordinary.

  3. Try the "Big Sur" from Pizza My Heart.  There are tons of cloves of roasted garlic, which will kind of blow your mind.  Pizza My Heart has a hand-tossed thin-crust pizza which has some similarities with Cicero's, also good.

    The Big Sur:
40 Cloves of Roasted Garlic,  Organic Tomato Pizza Sauce, Pepperoni, Sausage, Portebello Mushrooms & Green Onions.
